Taylor Swift is an American singer and songwriter who started in country music and became the biggest pop star of her time. She is known for writing personal songs and for connecting closely with her fans, who call themselves Swifties.
Early life
She was born on 13 December 1989 in West Reading, Pennsylvania, and grew up on a Christmas tree farm. She loved country music as a child and kept travelling to Nashville to sing. Her family moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee, when she was 14 so she could chase music full time.
Music career
Her self titled first album came out in 2006. Fearless (2008) made her a star and won Album of the Year. With 1989 (2014) she fully moved to pop. folklore and evermore (2020) showed a quieter, indie side. Midnights (2022) gave her a record fourth Album of the Year.
The Eras Tour ran across five continents from 2023 to 2024 and became the highest grossing tour in history. In October 2025 she released The Life of a Showgirl.
Ownership of her music
After her early masters were sold in 2019, she re-recorded albums as Taylor’s Version. In May 2025 she bought back all of her original recordings.
Personal life
She has been in a relationship with Travis Kelce since 2023, and the couple announced their engagement in August 2025. She divides her time between Nashville, New York, Los Angeles and Rhode Island.
