This policy explains what information The Famous File (thefamousfile.com) collects, why, and the choices you have. The site is run by The Famous File (“we”, “us”).
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Comments: your name, email, optional website and the comment text. WordPress also stores the IP address and browser details of the commenter to help stop spam.
- Contact, correction and profile claim forms: the details you enter, such as name, email, phone number and message.
- Follow and birthday alerts: your email address and the biographies you follow. We only send emails after you confirm by clicking the link we send.
Information collected automatically
- Views and ratings: to count views and stop repeated ratings we create a one-way code from your IP address. We do not store the IP address itself for this, and the code expires.
- Preferences on your device: your choices for dark mode, currency, language and whether you rated a page are saved in your own browser storage, not on our servers.
- Server logs: our hosting provider may keep standard logs (IP address, pages requested, time) for security.
Cookies and advertising
WordPress sets cookies if you leave a comment and choose to save your details. If ads are shown, third party vendors including Google may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before personalised ads are used.
Third party services
- Fonts and icons are loaded from Google Fonts and cdnjs, which receive your IP address when your browser requests them.
- Comment avatars may be loaded from Gravatar using a code made from your email address.
- Web stories load scripts from the AMP project.
- Our news desk sends public news headlines to an AI service to summarise facts. No visitor data is sent to it.
- Share buttons open WhatsApp, Facebook or X only when you click them.
How we use information
- To reply to your messages and handle corrections or requests
- To send the emails you asked for, such as birthday alerts
- To show and moderate comments
- To keep the site secure and stop spam and abuse
- To understand which pages are popular
We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
- Comments stay until removed. Messages and requests are kept as long as needed to handle them and for our records.
- Follower emails are kept until you unsubscribe using the link in any email.
- Rate limit codes expire automatically, within 30 days at most.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and California, you may have the right to access, correct, download or delete your personal data, and to object to some uses. You can also ask WordPress to export or erase the data linked to your email. To make a request, contact us at ayzalinayat3838@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no website can promise complete security.
