LeBron James is an American basketball player who is widely seen as one of the two or three greatest players ever. He is the NBA’s all time leading scorer and has played in the league for more than two decades.
Early life
He was born in Akron, Ohio, on 30 December 1984, and was raised by his mother, Gloria. Money was tight and they moved often. Basketball gave him stability, and at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School he became a national name before he turned 18.
NBA career
The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted him first in 2003. He moved to the Miami Heat in 2010 and won titles in 2012 and 2013, then returned to Cleveland and won the city’s first championship in 2016. He joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018 and won the 2020 title.
In 2023 he broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record, and in 2024 he played next to his son Bronny for the Lakers. He has also won three Olympic gold medals with the United States.
Business and charity
He has a lifetime deal with Nike, co-founded the media company SpringHill and owns a stake in Fenway Sports Group, the owner of Liverpool FC. His I Promise School in Akron supports children from poor families.
Personal life
He married Savannah Brinson in 2013. They have three children, Bronny, Bryce and a daughter.
