Beyonce is an American singer, songwriter and performer and one of the most famous entertainers in the world. She holds the record for the most Grammy wins ever.
Early life
Beyonce Giselle Knowles was born in Houston, Texas, on 4 September 1981. Her father Mathew managed her early groups, and her mother Tina ran a hair salon and later designed stage outfits. Her younger sister Solange is also a singer.
Career
She rose to fame as the lead singer of Destiny’s Child. Her first solo album, Dangerously in Love, came out in 2003 with the hit Crazy in Love. Later albums such as B’Day, I Am… Sasha Fierce and 4 brought hits like Irreplaceable, Single Ladies and Halo.
Her 2013 surprise album and the 2016 visual album Lemonade changed how big artists release music. Renaissance (2022) and Cowboy Carter (2024) followed, and Cowboy Carter won Album of the Year in 2025.
Film and business
She acted in Dreamgirls and voiced Nala in The Lion King (2019). She runs Parkwood Entertainment and launched Cecred haircare in 2024.
Personal life
She married Jay-Z in 2008. They have three children and live mostly in Los Angeles.
