She was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, on 22 July 1992 and was raised mostly by her mother, Mandy Teefey. She got her start on Barney and Friends, where she met her friend Demi Lovato.
Acting
She became famous as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place. She later appeared in Spring Breakers and produced the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. Since 2021 she has starred in Only Murders in the Building. Her role in Emilia Perez won her a share of the best actress prize at Cannes in 2024.
Music
After records with her band The Scene, she went solo with Stars Dance in 2013, then Revival and Rare. Lose You to Love Me was her first Hot 100 number one. In 2025 she released I Said I Love You First with Benny Blanco.
Business
Rare Beauty launched in 2020 and quickly became one of the most popular makeup brands among young buyers. A part of its sales goes to the Rare Impact Fund for mental health services.
