Ranveer Singh is an Indian actor known for his energy, his range and his loud, playful fashion. In just over a decade he has gone from newcomer to one of Bollywood’s top stars.
Early life
He was born in Mumbai on 6 July 1985 into a Sindhi family. After school he went to the United States and earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington. Back in Mumbai he worked as a copywriter and assistant director while auditioning for roles.
Career
Yash Raj Films cast him in Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010, and he won the Filmfare Best Male Debut award. His work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat made him a big star. Gully Boy, Simmba and 83 showed very different sides of him.
In 2025 he starred in Dhurandhar, an action spy film by Aditya Dhar.
Personal life
He married Deepika Padukone in 2018 after six years together. Their daughter was born in September 2024.
